Lucero's punk rock roots flavor their now "country-ish" music, while their Southern roots give them the twang that they have come to be known by. They had their start in Memphis, TN. in 1998 and have since released six full length albums.
Built to Spill ,based in Boise, Idaho, has released seven full-length albums. Their most recent album, There Is No Enemy, was released on October 6, 2009. The band consists of former Treepeople guitarist/vocalist Doug Martsch, who formed Built to Spill in 1992, with Brett Netson and Ralf Youtz as the band's original members. Martsch has cited Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis' style of heavy, catchy guitar hooks as an influence on what has come to be Built to Spill's call sign.
